3OH!3 is an electro hop group from Boulder, Colorado formed in 2004 named after the 303 area code. The band consists of Sean Foreman and Nathanial Motte. In this music video for the song 'Starstrukk' by 3OH!3 ft Katy Perry, they are not taking themselves seriously, and they are joking around. Throughout the video, there are scenes in which they are dancing, and standing around(and in) the fountain. The scenes are not related to the lyrics of the song, and the scenes contain the artists miming the words. In the video there is a scene in which the male artists are being chased by women, which could suggest a storyline. Also, some of the scenes may suggest sexual activities, as they are provocatively dancing around.

Annotation

The All-American Rejects are a four-piece American rock band formed in 2000. The band consists of lead vocalist and bass guitarist Tyson Ritter, guitarists Nick Wheeler and Mike Kennerty, and drummer Chris Gaylor.

In this music video, for the song 'give you hell' by All American Rejects, they are not taking themselves seriously. The scenes contain lots of bright colours, and the scenes aren't really related to the lyrics in the song. Miming is used quite a bit throughout the song, with scenes of a man performing the song at a gig. There are some random scenes in the video, where a man is riding around on a sit-on lawn mower.

Production Planning - Thursday 1st October

All products must show an understanding of:

Audience, institution, representation and media languages (codes and conventions)

Initial Research:

+ Carry out textual analysis of similar existing products to identify codes and conventions. Decide which of these you will use, which you will ignore/subvert.

+ Consider issues of representation - Who/what is being represented and in what way? Why?

My task is to make a promotional music video for a new original music act. The act can be a group or solo artist and the track I choose can be any genre, although ballads are not recommended. the purpose of the video is to launch the act and should reflect their style, genre and target audience.
